the Not Built for Slavery series (1.frontline Aftermath | two 5-second vix) :: shade
This series confronts the audacious thought process of visualizing where we need to get to — shutting this coup shit down, burn it all.
The imagery includes dispersed cotton in front of white buildings as an illustration for the plantation our White House has always been, with fire, flame, and smoke as an illustration of the emergency stopgate needed to prevent these would-be great United States from turning authoritarian instead of a true democracy. Ruins, rubble, and shards of chaos settle as an illustration of the aftermath, a moment to observe so we can plan and act. Women take the frontline as changemakers, basking in the rebirth of nations, celebrating and letting things settle, while reminding us that this is starting at the end so we can strategize and move now.
Each frame is vivid, confrontational, quirky, and unapologetic, an illustration of what’s needed to imagine, plan, and act with precision and urgency.
